Perhaps there’s no greater joy than the joy of learning something. Is there a point to a day where you don’t develop in any way? Perhaps. Sometimes the peace is good. But mostly, a day where you can learn something, even if it’s trivial, is a good day. I think of the past me who spent his time, playing with computers, but there’s something great about developing a new skill, something completely different. An instrument, a language, a game. Trivialities? Maybe, but the joy is in the learning, in seeing the results of the hours spent getting to be able to do something.
Some seem to give up learning new things, at a youngish age, 25 or 30. Only to start doing it again 40 years later. What could be worse than giving up on finding out more about the world?
